Author Barbara Coombs Lee will lead a 7-part book discussion series, discussing the book’s instructive stories, practical knowledge, and vital tips with participants. She will cover a breadth of topics, including:
- Finding a partner-doctor to honor your values and beliefs with humanity, deference and candor;
- Identifying what matters most as illness advances and vigor wanes;
- Staying off the overtreatment conveyor belt;
- Knowing when “slow medicine” is the best option to maintain quality of life;
- Planning to escape dementia when the quality of life crosses a critical threshold;
- Finding hospice and optimal end-of-life care for an ultimately healing experience.
